Career Development

We believe career planning benefits both the employee and us, British American Tobacco Australasia. It helps us build succession plans that consider the aspirations of the individual employees, making them more accurate, reliable and robust.

We spend significant time reviewing the careers of our employees and meeting their development needs to ensure every individual has the opportunity to fully realise their potential.  Our employees drive their own career discussions, with their managers playing a key role in providing support and guidance. Similarly, we provide some key tools and processes for our managers to equip them to develop the careers of those reporting to them.

Annually, we hold Talent Review meetings for all managers in the organisation.  These meetings aim to ensure we have good succession plans in place which take into account both the employee’s needs and the future shape of the organisation. At British American Tobacco, we invest time into these forums because we’re committed to developing careers because in our business, supporting individuality means we stay strong.
